Alpha Divers, Stuart, FL

We have a very good opinion of Danielle Heaton the owner/operator of Alpha Divers. She’s done a great job of keeping the crustaceans off our running gear and keel coolers for 3 years. The last time we pulled Istaboa out of the water for a bottom paint job, I almost had them put it back in because our hull was in such good shape.

Danielle, an Iraq war vet, is truly one of the hardest working folks on these docks. If she puts you on her schedule you can bet she will be there on time.
So if you’re in Stuart, FL and need a diver, Danielle’s your diver.

Frank,
Keel coolers have been around for a while, but not stone age. Their used on commercial vessels all the time. Nordhavn has used them since their was a Nordhavn
It’s kinda like the radiator on your car. On the bottom of the boat is a series of coils exposed to the water which keeps them cool. The advantage of a keel cooler is that no salt water ever gets to the engine. The coil of tubes are filled with coolant which circulates through the main engine to keep it cool.
Barnacles tend to grow behind and around these tubes which decreases their efficiency. Danielle does a great job of removing those barnacles without damaging the tubes.
here’s a link to the type of keel cooler that is on my boat.

Hope this helps and thanks for asking,

So what is a keel cooler exactly? I’ve heard that they’re some stone age piece of equipment – basically a big hole in your hull.
Is that right?

She really does an excellent job. She’s even fabricated tools to get under the coils on the keel coolers.

It sounds like Danielle’s services are a wise investment, especially if it might save a haul out or two for painting.
