Classic Marine, Jupiter, FL…
Update 3-21-12
Because of the Google search placement of this post (Yachtblogs does a great job) I have changed the title as well as the narrative. My opinion of Classic Marine is still a bad one and if asked to rate him on a scale of 1 to 10, I would say he doesn’t rate.
With all that said, I don’t think such a harsh criticism should be the first item to pop up on a Google search for Classic Marine, Jupiter, FL. I have removed this narrative on my on, I do this out of sympathy for Mr. Brenner and no other reason.
I hope this proved to Mr. Brenner that he can be held accountable for his actions.
That’s the point of this blog.
Getting to the point immediately, we have a very negative opinion of Randy Brenner and Classic Marine Services.
Classic Marine is a servicing dealer for Dometic-Sealand Vacuflush Systems. I had a pump in that system that would turn on and pump for about 15 seconds every 3 hours or so. The Vacuflush system worked, but the pump noise was annoying. I expected a $300.00 repair.
After almost 2 months, 3 misdiagnoses with the problem getting worse after each repair, $1400.00 dollars in parts and labor, (that I begrudgingly payed in full), excuse after excuse, I finally had had enough with Randy Brenner and Classic Marine and called someone else who quickly figured out the problem and fixed it.
I’ve heard from 3 other boaters, on this dock alone, with complaints about Classic Marine.
A company aptly named Marine Plumbing Company solved our problem quickly and at a fair price.

Here’s to safe and happy cruises.

Captain Mike,
I also think Randy has a lot of friends who think he’s good looking. I also think he could be a good enough marine plumbing guy and has repeat customers who he does a good job for. My opinion, is that he thought of me as a snowbird/onetime customer. I wasn’t present when the work started and I think he took advantage of that situation. He didn’t know that I was in the Marine Services business for a long time and I have experience with the correct procedure to performing such a repair.
He now knows his actions can follow him around… good or bad. The internet never forgets.
Thanks for your comment

I totally agree with this review and after reading the other replies I think Randy must have many friend who think he’s good looking.
My experience was the same as the reviewer’s. I was overcharged and the problem kept getting worse.
I followed the advice of this website and called Marine Plumbing Company. They quickly diagnosed and repaired the system.

I have had Randy from Classic work on my boats for at least 8 years. He has always been extremely knowledgeable, friendly, ON TIME, and very trustworthy. When it comes to pricing and workmanship, he is very fair and will always be my first choice on plumbing and air conditioning repairs.

Capt. Steve of Palm Beach Gardens,
I appreciate your comment.
It’s seems Mr. Brenner has many friends and you seem to be one with a better opinion of Classic Marine than I have.
As a professional captain, I think you would have come to the same conclusion after 2 months and $1400.00 in parts, just making the problem worse than ever. As the gentleman at Sealand said, “This is not rocket science, it’s a simple vacuflush system.”
Bowl seals and a new flush ball finally solved the problem.
Again, I do appreciate your response.
Bob
P.S. Maybe I need to repost the original narrative to properly describe my issues.

I have been a captain in the Treasure Coast and South Florida area for over 30 years. My experiences with service & repair companies range from I wish I never made to the call to why didn’t I make it sooner. Randy Brenner at Classic Marine is the latter and for obvious reasons. He comes to the boat when he says he will, addresses the issue correctly, completes the work in a timely manner, and always checks up to make sure the issue is resolved. The best part is all of this can be accomplished without me being on board. Integrity and trust, a winning combination for all.

Bob….I really don’t want to get into a pissing match….but you fail to mention what caused the problem……I saw the pictures on Randy’s face book page….but maybe its best to just drop it.I suggest you do also as I think the blockage that caused this might be some embarrassment.
Move on my friend and enjoy the glorious weather and clam seas!!!!

Jill,
Actually I feel bad about the placement of my review when googling Classic Marine, but what I have written is my honest opinion. I’m sure you had a good experience with Classic Marine and that’s good. Not many can step up to the plate and knock it out of the park every time, in my case, Classic Marine struck out and at my expense. I think he should be accountable for that.
Thank you for your response,
Bob Taylor

Stephen,
Glad you had a better experience with Classic Marine than I did. My review is not without merit, it’s my opinion and you have yours.
If you read this blog you will find I write more good reviews than bad, but I do expect to get my money’s worth and in my opinion, in the case of Classic Marine, I didn’t. Ya gotta admit… Almost 2000.00 and 2 months to fix an annoying pump that would come on every couple of hours then stop?
As far as character defects and loose screws… well… I am a boater so that’s probably true.
Sorry we disagree,
Bob Taylor

WOW….What can one say. I have been a customer of Classic Marine Services for over 6 years…….even when Randy worked for a large and respected repair organization before he started Classic….adn yes although he is a very handsome guy his work effort is impeccable, his pricing has always been fair and he has always done what he said he would in a timely manner. Now that I think of it he has even gone out of his way SEVERAL times when I had either and air conditioning or head problem and had an trip planed to work late into the evening so I could get away in good repair and with out stress!
Its so sad when a customer who is not satisfied goes to such lengths to harm a mans reputation rather then chalking it up and moving on. When one doeas go to such extreams it most likely is a charactor defect and nine times out of ten a case of the a customer with a loose screw or a customer who can NEVER find any satisfaction with any repair….This surley sounds to be a case of both!!!!…..but anyone reading this can most likely read between the lines of the disgrunteled rambelings posted by Bob Taylor.

I was trying to find Randy’s number so I googled “Classic Marine Jupiter” and I ran across this blog. I was surprised to read your account. I have done business with Randy for over two years and honestly there is no one I trust more when it comes to professional service. It sounds like you had more than one problem with your toilet and they are complicated systems. I can highly recommend Randy. He’s welcome on my vessel anytime.

Something’s a little suspicious about these 3 comments, but I promised to approve any relative comments so here they are.
Although, they do seem silly and they kinda make my point… Oh yeah… all 3 comments have the same IP address.
